Abies are evergreen conifers, widespread in Asia, Central America, Europe, North America and North Africa. Often very tall, with spiralled branches bearing flattened, linear leaves. The seed-cones stand upright on the branches unlike Spruces which have pendulous cones. Young cones are very eye-catching, ranging in colours from white, green, blueish violet and a purple red.

Abies veitchii 'Rumburk' is a miniature compact evergreen with soft, glossy, densely arranged, blue-green needles and cylindrical, blue-grey cones. The needles have a beautiful silvery shimmering effect. This would be perfect for a container or a small garden. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
