Genus
Cedrus is a genus of coniferous trees in the plant family Pinaceae. They are native to the mountains of the western Himalayas and the Mediterranean region, occurring at altitudes of 1,500–3,200m in the Himalayas and 1,000–2,200m in the Mediterranean. These large evergreen trees have needle-like leaves arranged spirally on young shoots, and in whorls on short spur-like side-shoots; ovoid cones break up to release the seeds while still attached to the tree.

Cedrus deodara ‘Blue Surprise’ is an eye-catching pyramidal cedar with attractive blue needles. The new growth in spring is creamy white (That’s the surprise!) A variety raised at Lime Cross Nursery by Jon Tate. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
