Clematis can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs or herbaceous perennials, mostly climbing by twining leaf-stalks, and often with showy flowers. Some have attractive fluffy seedheads in autumn.
Early Large-flowered clematis have large star-shaped flowers in early summer, often with a second flowering in late summer.
Clematis Minister (Clematis x jackmani) is a medium-sized deciduous climber with masses of large violet flowers (up to 9cm in diameter). The flowers are produced in good quantities and make a spectacular display repeat flowering from spring through to autumn. Minister is a Group 3 type for pruning.
