Native to Japan where they are revered as the national tree. Cryptomeria Japonica are large evergreen trees with attractive red-brown bark and dense foliage consisting of short awl-shaped leaves arranged spirally around the branchlets; cones are spherical.

With a prehistoric look Cryptomeria japonica ‘Araucarioides’ has long branches with short green needles resembling a cord or rope. This conifer will bring colour and texture to a garden all year round. A highly architectural and unusual tree and one of our favourites. It will thrive in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
