Tai Chi is a Chinese internal martial art based on Yin/Yang philosophy and when used by the experienced a subtle but effective self-defence. The aspect most people are familiar with is Hand Form, the slow continuous flowing movements are often referred to as ‘meditation in movement’. Seeming to move effortlessly from one stance to the next it is a load bearing exercise, with weight constantly changing from one leg to the other balance and co-ordination improves along with flexibility.
Moving slowly through the form helps increase focus, breathing becomes slower and deeper calming the mind. However the sheer enjoyment of practicing this amazing art cannot help but lift the spirits, too.
In China Tai Chi is practiced daily by millions of all ages, generally early morning in parks or any other open space. It is recognised that regular practice improves the circulation of blood, the flow of energy and strengthens the entire biological system, whilst encouraging a state of relaxation. Many hospitals in China prescribe Tai Chi to their patients as an aid to recovery.
I came into Tai Chi nearly 25 years ago purely by accident after reading an article about how regular practice could help those who suffer migraines. It’s been an amazing journey so far and continues by attending regular workshops and training camps, and best of all sharing Tai Chi with others.
Now it’s time to start your journey, I look forward to meeting you, Lynne.
We believe that there is no such thing as bad weather and ask that in the event of rain or gloom you arrive prepared with warm clothes, wellies, umbrellas etc. We have some undercover areas available, but the main decked area is open to the elements.
This event is subject to bookings so we are unfortunately unable to run the event if we do not get the minimum required number of bookings, however we will provide at least 72 hours’ notice. We will also cancel events if there is a chance of lightning, this might happen quite close to the start time of the event, due to the unpredictability of our UK weather.
If you are unable to attend please let us know 72 hours in advance.
