Ginkgo's! And other news...

Posted by Helen Soudain on

This week at the nursery we are celebrating Ginkgo’s!
These amazing ancient trees are known for their beautiful fan shaped leaves which start to change as we move into autumn from green to a deep golden yellow.

Above are some of our Ginkgo Biloba Trees currently on display at the nursery.

Also known as Maidenhair tree, Ginkgo Biloba is a deciduous conifer found in fossils dating back 200 million years. Ginkgo trees have both male and female plants. The female fruit is edible but when it ripens has an unpleasant smell, so male clones are preferred.

Below is Ginkgo Biloba 'Fingers' and like all Ginkgos its very easy to grow! Ginkgos come in all shapes and sizes with one to suit every garden. Our varieties are grown at Lime Cross Nursery and we have one of the largest selection to be found anywhere.

Other news this week...

We have a new Saturday Yoga Class starting this week. Join Jemma for an energetic class for all levels which combines Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates and finishing with a gently guided meditation.

Lynne's beginners Tai Chi Class starts this Thursday too!

Our first Yoga retreat day of the year was last Saturday, it was lovely to hear how everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing time.

We received a lovely review from Sally, thank you!
'A wonderful retreat day yesterday. A lovely Yoga class with Gemma. Then braved the lake for an invigorating swim (perhaps my last this year without a wetsuit)a walk through their woods seeing their other huge pond (not for swimming in but very beautiful) alpaca spotting and cake & bubbles to round off the day, perfect! Thank you for looking after us so well!'

With a whiff of wood smoke in the air we wanted to let you know about our
Kiln Dried Oak Logs.

We source our firewood from a local timber yard with an onsite facility to kiln dry oak off-cuts, meaning guaranteed lower moisture content and excellent quality. We can deliver in the BN & TN postcodes for £20 per bag (up to 8 bags for for fixed delivery price £20),this online price includes delivery.

We also sell Eco Nuggets which are a great alternative to logs and ideal fuel for wood burners and fires.

Eco-nugget briquettes are mechanically pressed from virgin-source timber chips and sawdust generated at an onsite mill, located in the heart of East Sussex. 100% of their wood waste is recycled into Eco-Nuggets and other wood fuel products during the manufacture of their machined boards, doors, windows, flooring, skirting and decking, all of which are made from high-quality timbers, typically oak. They have a low ash content and are very clean to handle.

You can find both at the nursery and online.

We look forward to seeing you soon, If we can help with anything please let us know:
