Cedrus is a genus of coniferous trees in the plant family Pinaceae. They are native to the mountains of the western Himalayas and the Mediterranean region, occurring at altitudes of 1,500–3,200m in the Himalayas and 1,000–2,200m in the Mediterranean. These large evergreen trees have needle-like leaves arranged spirally on young shoots, and in whorls on short spur-like side-shoots; ovoid cones break up to release the seeds while still attached to the tree.

Cedrus atlantica ‘Glauca’ are large magnificent stately cedars, at first conical, later developing a broad crown. Elegant spreading branches bearing silvery blue-green needles make a beautiful backdrop to any garden. This cedar can also be espaliered against a wall with great effect, with examples that can been seen at RHS Wisley. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
