Well Being in the Wild

Philosophy

Wellbeing in the Wild is an opportunity to enjoy classes taught by local professionals and therapists in a beautiful, outside setting. Combine the serenity (and wildness) of nature with the health-giving benefits of yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, lake swimming or meditation.

Group classes take place on the decked banks of the beautiful spring fed lake, or you can book a private yoga or Pilates lesson in the beautiful ÖÖD house.

Our classes are accessible, and our qualified teachers are excellent at accommodating varied levels, we will always state when a class requires a higher level of experience. We always have a qualified lifeguard onsite throughout all swimming sessions, but we do require that participants have a fairly good level of competence, we cannot accommodate beginner or very nervous swimmers.

Yoga

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Come and enjoy an outside yoga class next to our beautiful lake.   Embrace the elements and practice yoga under the sun, in the breeze and, maybe, the occasional rain shower. Check the schedule for weekly classes and retreats.

Tai Chi

The slow controlled movements encourage the smooth flow of chi (energy) around the body; breathing becomes deeper bringing about a sense of calm, while improving balance and stability, increasing stamina and flexibility and aiding co-ordination. Join Lynne Wood for an alfresco class in and around the nursery and next to the lake every Wednesday morning at 8:30-9:30, rain, shine, snow or hail.

Pilates

The Pilates method is a mind-body centring technique, designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance, using movements that involve the whole body, in order to re-educate and restore your optimum muscular and skeletal function. Join a class run by teachers from Turning Tides Pilates or come along to a retreat day, taught by Tansy Blaik-Kelly founder of Turning Tides. Check the schedule for weekly classes and retreats.

Wild Swimming

Feel liberated and invigorated by plunging into the crystal-clear waters of our spring fed lake. This lake irrigates the plants that we grow and is exceptionally clean, hosting a clan of fresh water mussels on its banks. Swim in a safe controlled environment where you feel at one with nature. Then warm up in our wood-fired hot tub afterwards.

Ancient Woodland

Discover ‘Pocket Shaw’, our 7-acre magical ancient woodland. Pocket Shaw lays within the ‘High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, making it rare and protected. There is an abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife; including deer, a kingfisher, rare anemones and ancient ash trees. Visit during blue bell season, when the woodland is carpeted by a sea of glorious purple.

Wine Tasting in the Wild

Embark on a sensory journey, discovering wild wines of world. Feel connected to the earth and unlocked your senses, whilst tasting and learning about natural, organic and biodynamic wines. Learn about lunar cycles and how these connect with wine production, influencing the production and taste. Wine tastings are totally accessible for wine beginners.
