Genus Abies are evergreen conifers, widespread in Asia, Central America, Europe, North America and North Africa. Often very tall, with spiralled branches bearing flattened, linear leaves. The seed-cones stand upright on the branches unlike Spruces which have pendulous cones. Young cones are very eye-catching, ranging in colours from white, green, blueish violet and a purple red.
Details Abies Concolor 'Wattezii Prostrate' has whitish to creamy yellow growth, fading to pastel blue grey in the summer. It has flat, blunt needles and tiered, horizontal branches. This plant enjoys plenty of sun, cooler climates, and acidic soil. If in time a leader appears it should be removed to keep a low growing plant. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
