Abies are evergreen conifers, widespread in Asia, Central America, Europe, North America and North Africa. Often very tall, with spiralled branches bearing flattened, linear leaves. The seed-cones stand upright on the branches unlike Spruces which have pendulous cones. Young cones are very eye-catching, ranging in colours from white, green, blueish violet and a purple red.

Abies fraseri 'Kline's Nest' is a compact, low-spreading Fir. Its needles are glossy green and short with purple seed cones held upright on the branches. Makes a great addition to any garden especially small or rock gardens. A really underrated little gem! Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
