Abies homolepis 'F.R. Newman' - Topworked
Compact White Fir
Abies are evergreen conifers, widespread in Asia, Central America, Europe, North America and North Africa. Often very tall, with spiralled branches bearing flattened, linear leaves. The seed-cones stand upright on the branches unlike Spruces which have pendulous cones. Young cones are very eye-catching, ranging in colours from white, green, blueish violet and a purple red.
Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery, Abies homolepis 'F.R. Newman' is an attractive, compact, low-spreading fir with glossy green needles. This is a miniature version of the original. These small conifers are grafted onto stems to enhance the aesthetics of their shape and play on the plants natural features.
