Chamaecyparis nootkatensis ‘Jubilee’
Chamaecyparis is a genus of evergreen conifers in the cypress family Cupressaceae, native to eastern Asia and to the western and eastern margins of the United States. They grow in cool temperate conifer forests, or in mixed conifer-broadleaf forest, from sea level to montane. The name is derived from the Greek khamai (χαμαί), meaning "on the earth", and kuparissos (κυπάρισσος) for cypress.
Chamaecyparis nootkatensis ‘Jubilee’ (Nootka Cypress) grows into an eye-catching tall narrow form with deep green foliage. With age this fast-growing tree develops a fascinating character with its graceful draping branches that look like arms. At night this magnificent tree castes bold shadows. This tree can benefit from being planted in a group to add effect to its grace. A truly architectural tree, which is slowly being used more in garden designs.
