Chamaecyparis is a genus of evergreen conifers in the cypress family Cupressaceae, native to eastern Asia and to the western and eastern margins of the United States. They grow in cool temperate conifer forests, or in mixed conifer-broadleaf forest, from sea level to montane. The name is derived from the Greek khamai (χαμαί), meaning "on the earth", and kuparissos (κυπάρισσος) for cypress.

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Gitte' is an unusual dwarf Hinoki Cypress with dense sprays of tight golden-yellow to yellow-green foliage, it brings small bright burst of colour to any garden and is suitable for a smaller space. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
