Chamaecyparis is a genus of evergreen conifers in the cypress family Cupressaceae, native to eastern Asia and to the western and eastern margins of the United States. They grow in cool temperate conifer forests, or in mixed conifer-broadleaf forest, from sea level to montane. The name is derived from the Greek khamai (χαμαί), meaning "on the earth", and kuparissos (κυπάρισσος) for cypress.

Chamaecyparis nootkatensis ‘Strict Weeping’ (Nootka Cypress) boasts an uncommonly pendulous habit. The draping foliage hangs down clasped tightly against the upright trunk. Mature trees develop fascinating character with secondary sub-leaders that reach out and create a close-knit cluster of trunks and gracefully arching side branches. A favourite here at Lime Cross. Very similar to Jubilee and Green Arrow. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
