Chamaecyparis is a genus of evergreen conifers in the cypress family Cupressaceae, native to eastern Asia and to the western and eastern margins of the United States. They grow in cool temperate conifer forests, or in mixed conifer-broadleaf forest, from sea level to montane. The name is derived from the Greek khamai (χαμαί), meaning "on the earth", and kuparissos (κυπάρισσος) for cypress.

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Pygmaea' is a flat-topped slow-growing Hinoki Cypress with beautiful reddish brown stems and fan-shaped sprays of bronze-green foliage that bring wonderful colour to the garden all year round. Ideal for a smaller garden. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
